What you missed: Run the Open Streets + Yoga in the Square

How did you spend your Sunday morning?

If you weren’t downtown, we feel bad. We spent the morning with more than 100 of our closest friends, running through the open streets of downtown Pittsburgh.

That’s right. Thanks to BikePGH, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, the streets of downtown were closed to traffic and open to the public – and the public was ready to run.

Fittsburgh’s Run the Open Streets event kicked off at Market Square with a warm-up led by Jhon Philipp of MÜV Integrated Physical Culture. The runners then took to the streets for a three mile adventure through downtown Pittsburgh guided by Amanda Shannon-Verrengia, Lululemon Ambassador and founder of Run Intended.

Following the run, Mayor Bill Peduto welcomed runners and yogis in Market Square and announced plans for the monthly recurrence of the downtown open streets! Then we hit the mats for Yoga in the Square, presented by Lululemon Shadyside and lead by instructor Krystal Fitzpatrick.
